Well, it was very nice I have to say to get my first victory here in Taiwan and my first for Fuji-Asia! The 10km hill climb was m first real hill climb race in over 2 years, but it went pretty well. For some reason there was a prime sprint after 2 km, so when I saw people going for that I decided to wait and attack just after it, knowing that the others would be recovering.
The plan worked, I pushed on steadily in 53x21 for most of the climb, switching to 23 for some parts. I didn`t get too far ahead of the pack until the last 3km, then relaxed a little too much over the last 1.5km - still, it was nice to savour the win! I remembered to zip up my jersey for the salute too!
Thanks to Chris and to Annie for their support, and to the other guys on the team too.
I`m off to Japan toda to race in the Tour du Kumano for my Japanese team, so should be in good condition for the next Fuji-Asia race, in East Java.
Onwards and upwards!!!!
