Races in Europe

Finished in 3rd place in Born (The Netherlands).

At Monday ,September 5th, I took part at the criterium in Born (Ned). Halfway the race I could ride away with Thomas Rabou (Realcyclist.com) and Emmanuel van Ruitenbeek (Eddy Merckx-Indeland). Through our good cooperation we built a lead of 45 sec. During the last 10 laps I felt that it would be difficult to win, because my legs were tired from the day before. In the last lap van Ruitenbeek could slip away and in the sprint Rabou was slightly faster then me. Still I'm satisfied with this 3rd place.

7th PLACE IN UCI 1.2 RACE, KERNEN OMLOOP ECHT-SUSTEREN (The Netherlands)

One day earlier on Sunday, I started in the Kernen Omloop Echt-Susteren (Ned) UCI 1.2. This was a flat race over 178 Km with a lot of turns and 200 riders from mostly UCI Continental Teams at the start. From the beginning there were several attacks but because of the wind there was never an important breakaway. After 100 Km I got a flat tire, but eventually I could quite easily come back. After 160 Km it was clear that the race would end in a bunch sprint. Because I felt good I decided to stay in front. 5 Km before the finish was a big crash but it was behind me so I had no disadvantage of that, also the last kilometre 2 riders in front of me crashed under which Wim Stroetinga (last year member of Pro Tour Team Milram). I had a good position in the last corner and I gained a nice 7th place. By this result I also gained 6 UCI Europe Ranking points ! Winner was Andris Smirnovs (Latvia National Team) in front of the Swedish rider Jonas Ahlstrand (Team Cykelcity.se) and Jetse Bol (Rabobank).
